OK, first things first let's chat about fabric, supplies and tools you'll need to make your Odette sew-along the most fun it can be.
Choosing your fabric:
When it comes to choosing fabric for your Odette dress, the fabric world is at your feet. Odette really is a versatile dress and will pretty much suit most fabrics. All my Odette samples i have sewn up and made of cottons and cotton blends, they tend to be my go to fabrics easy to sew as well super pretty prints that are suiting my Spring taste at the moment. Below are just a few samples of the fabrics i chose. Odette is a great dress to show case bold, colorful fabric prints as well solid colors. Please check out the back of the pattern envelope for a list of fabrics that i suggest will work well with the Odette dress.
For the bodice lining fabric i chose to stick with lightweight cotton voile's, poplin's etc since we are heading into warmer weather here i am opting for spring/Summer dresses.
Supplies & Tools you'll need:
Before we really kick off with the Odette sew-along below is a list of the supplies you'll get to grab:
* Main fabric
* Lining fabric
* Contrasting fabric for the Insert or matching, let you creative take charge. I just headed to my fabric stash and pick out a piece here and there about the size of A4 sheet size. ( Please note in the pic below i was still at the stage of choosing my insert fabric!)
* Lightweight Fusible Interfacing. Gives just enough stiffness to the insert and waistband
* Four 5/8'' buttons
* 22'' matching Invisible Zipper.
(A little tip that Heather mentioned in a previous post, if you can't find the correct colored zipper you can easily grab the nail polish and paint the zipper tip the matching color to your fabric.)
* Matching Thread
* Invisible zipper foot
* Regular zipper foot
* Button hole foot
* Pins
* Tailors ham
* Pattern weights
* Tracing paper & Pencil
* Sharpie/Marker
And obviously your copy of the Odette pattern ( Paper or PDF) ready to go. You can pick up a copy here.
So gather up all your fabric, tools and supplies and I'll see you tomorrow for the next Odette sew-along post.
