The Winifred sew-along schedule & all you need to know!

Ok fine folks, i've finally organized all you need to know with the upcoming Winifred sew-along, start and end dates, competition dates and a few more goodies to make this sew-along awesome, so read on!

Sew - along start & finish dates:

The sew-along will run for the below dates and i will posting everyday throughout.

Sew-along starts: Monday 24th of March. An extra bit of time for all your patterns to arrive :)
Sew-along finishes:  Monday 31st of March

Can you sew?

If you are a newbie on the sewing machine or have been sewing for yonks, then the Winifred dress will suit you all. The Winifred dress is rated as a beginner pattern. And if you  are a little unsure of sewing up the pattern and the possibility of tackling the elastic waistline or fitting it correctly  don't fear I'm here too help!  We  will be covering these during the sew-along, and i  will be holding your hand the whole way through. Hopefully you will pick up a few new & neat sewing skills along the way as well.

How this sew-along will roll:

For the week or so  that we shall sew the Winifred dress together  we will follow the below schedule:

Post #1:  Getting started with the
Winifred dress fabric suggestions, sizing,  tracing and cutting the pattern. All the necessary info to get you on the right track of sewing up a gorgeous Winifred dress.

Post #2: How to complete and SBA & FBA with Heather.

Post #3: Stitch up the dress back and attach the elastic waistline plus an alternative to the elastic by Heather.

Post #4: Front tuck darts, stitch dress front and shoulder seams.

Post #5: Stitch up the dress collar.

Post #6: Assemble the belt and attach, dress side seams and  hem the sleeves ( both versions)

Post #7: Attach the slide buckle and finally hem our Winifred dresses.

*The Sew-along will incorporate both versions of the Winifred dresses, the difference between the two are the sleeves lengths. So no matter which versions you're sewing up follow along with all posts as they're covering both dress versions.

Count me in! What do i need?

* The Winifred sewing pattern

*Fabric - I recommend fabrics such as cotton and cotton blends, lawn, batiste, shirting, voile etc
* Matching thread
* 1'' Wide single fold bias binding
*2cm Wide elastic
* 2'' Slide buckle
* One safety pin
* The usual sewing supplies : Your trusty sewing machine, pins ( lots of them), sharp fabric scissors, an  iron, tracing paper, pens & pencils, measuring tape.

The competition dates:

If you're entering the competition to win the awesome prizes, take note of the below dates:

Final date to upload your Winifred photos : 10th of April to the Flickr group.

Make sure to join the Flickr group sooner rather than later, if you're planning on entering the sew-along competition.

 The couple of days following i will be collating all the entries ready to be voted on.

Voting will begin : 14th of April and run through to the 20th of April. This is your chance to vote on your favourite Winifred dresses!

Once i've tallied all the votes i will be announcing the 3 winners here on the blog roughly around the 23rd of April.

How to enter the competition:

You  must upload  your completed Winifred dress photos onto the Bluegingerdoll  Flickr group  and also use the  tag Winifred on your photos to officially enter into the contest and go in the running to win the  prizes. Don't tag, not entered - Easy.

How does the voting work?

Myself and some other very helpful elves will be choosing several favorites ( depending on how many entries roughly between 5-10)  from the Flickr group that will then be voted on by the sewing  public, that means you fine folk  out there,  for the chance to win the cool  prizes.

So you help you find the answers you need i have created a  Facebook group especially for Bluegingerdoll sew-alongs, the first one being the upcoming Winifred sew-along ( eventually i'll upload all the other pattern sew-alongs).

 This will be a one stop shop where you'll be able to find all the sew-along happenings, new and old blog posts, progress shots etc This is a group where you can be interactive with each other, upload your progress photos, get fabric envy,  be inspired by each other or kick each other up the butt!
